The Geospatial Data Analyst supports a critical Air Force geospatial program by managing, processing, and securing geospatial datasets in compliance with Air Force and DoD standards. This role involves ensuring data integrity and accessibility, collaborating with GIS and IT teams, and applying cybersecurity protocols within a classified, mission-critical environment at Confidential Client.

What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Geospatial Data Analyst to support a mission-critical Department of Defense / Air Force geospatial program. You will organize, process, secure, and maintain geospatial datasets so operational users and analytic teams can rely on timely, accurate data.
- Organize, store, and maintain geospatial datasets in line with DoD and Air Force standards.
- Ingest, transform, process, and distribute geospatial data for downstream applications.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure data integrity, accuracy, accessibility, and security.
- Manage metadata, tagging, and documentation to improve discoverability and data governance.
- Troubleshoot data access, format conversion, and consistency issues across vector and raster sources.
- Collaborate with GIS specialists, developers, analysts, and system administrators to optimize data workflows.
- Apply DoD / Air Force cybersecurity standards and handle sensitive or classified data per policy.
What We’re Looking For
- Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one (required).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Data Management, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial data formats (Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, raster formats).
- Familiarity with relational and spatial databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, PostGIS).
- Experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work onsite in a secured/classified DoD environment.
- Knowledge of data security protocols and handling of sensitive/classified information.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Prior experience supporting DoD or Air Force geospatial programs or working with defense geospatial policies.
- Experience with cloud-based geospatial environments and data pipelines.
- Scripting experience (Python or similar) for automation and data processing.
- Familiarity with metadata standards, data cataloging, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience with metadata tagging and documentation tools.
Work Environment & Conditions
- Onsite in Detroit, MI. This role requires the ability to work in a secured/classified facility. (Travel may be required up to ~10% depending on mission needs.)
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of applicable background checks and drug screening.
- This is a full-time position supporting a Confidential Client’s defense/geospatial mission.
Compensation
- Salary range (provided by the client): USD 75,000 — USD 95,000 per year.
