Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Geologist to join their Railway Market Unit in Saint Louis, MO. This is a full-time, contractor-position opportunity focused on geotechnical field investigations and desktop geological assessment to support rail and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical explorations: planning, field reconnaissance, coordination and supervision of subcontractors, and supervision of field testing and data collection.
- Own field safety and quality-control activities during onsite investigations.
- Develop geo-material design parameters and perform modeling, analysis and geotechnical calculations.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, field logs, and construction plans.
- Mentor and assign tasks to entry-level staff; provide technical review and quality control of calculations and reports.
- Coordinate drilling and laboratory test contractors; perform construction observations and related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience using gINT for borehole logging and report generation.
- Familiarity with geotechnical design software (for example, GeoStudio).
- Experience preparing and logging soil borings and producing field logs.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Strong written communication and technical documentation skills.
- Willingness to travel for out-of-town assignments and work overtime when project needs require.
- This role is safety-sensitive and employees will be subject to random drug testing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or GRIT preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to use commercial programs (e.g., gINT) to generate final logs is a plus.
Compensation & Logistics
- Salary range: $63,000 - $80,000 (dependent on experience).
- Employment type: Full-time / Contractor.
- Location: Saint Louis, MO — on-site field work required.
- Safety-sensitive position; random drug testing applies.
