What You’ll Do

  • Support environmental field work on federal projects, including soil, soil-vapor, groundwater, surface-water, and sediment sampling.
  • Use standard field equipment, prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody and related documentation.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics to interpret observations and field data.
  • Oversee subcontractors (laboratories, drilling/excavation crews) and coordinate on-site activities with project staff.
  • Prepare technical field documentation, basic data summaries, and contribute to technical reports.
  • Perform unsupervised field tasks, participate in health & safety activities (inspections, observations, training), and develop hazard recognition skills.
  • Travel to project sites within the U.S. as required and safely operate field vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Ability to pass State and Federal background checks and obtain U.S. Federal Government credentials where required by contract.
  • Ability to meet medical clearance requirements for OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance, including being medically fit to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance available as needed) and safely operate a full-size pickup truck.
  • Due to contract requirements on certain federal projects, U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, or a related field.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training (or willingness to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER and annual 8-hour refresher).
  • Experience collecting and evaluating environmental data in field and office settings.
  • Experience preparing investigation reports and drawings; strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and professional written/verbal communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year (range reflects location, experience, and role requirements).
  • Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D, disability, paid time off, retirement plan, and other voluntary benefits depending on employment status.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Additional Information

  • This is an entry-level, full-time role supporting environmental contracts. Work location model may be hybrid depending on project needs.
  • The selection and onboarding process may include background checks, Motor Vehicle Records review, medical screening, and credentialing required for federal work. Day‑one in-person onboarding at a client office may be required as a condition of employment.
