Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Geologist / Environmental Scientist to support field and project work in Brooklyn, NY. This is a full-time, field-focused role conducting Phase I/II ESAs, site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and related environmental field activities across municipal and private-sector projects.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of ASTM-compliant Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
- Conduct site investigations and soil/groundwater/soil-vapor sampling
- Oversee drilling/excavation contractors and monitor field safety
- Soil logging and geologic formation description
- Collect soil samples for NYC agency sites and other clients
- Operate field equipment (PID meters, Horiba meters, water pumps, etc.)
- Oversight of groundwater monitoring well installations and related activities
- Support construction-activity oversight: excavations, UST investigations/closures, monitoring
- Implement CAMP and perform work zone monitoring
- Prepare clear field activity reports and assist project PMs with summary documents
- Typical schedule: 8-hour shift; frequent fieldwork and travel within assigned region
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; entry-level candidates are considered
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for field travel
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions; reliable and detail-oriented
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER desirable; Construction 30-hour OSHA and SWPPP certification a plus
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
