What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join a Resilience Environment team. This role combines office-based technical work with substantial fieldwork and is slated to start Summer 2027. Candidates graduating in May 2027 are encouraged to apply.
Day-to-day you will support Project Managers and Task Managers to plan and execute environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. You will receive training to perform and oversee field activities (soil and groundwater sampling, vapor/soil gas surveys), coordinate subcontractors, and contribute to technical reporting and project deliverables.
- Assist with environmental site investigations, remediation tasks, and site characterization
- Support drilling oversight for soil sampling and groundwater well installation
- Conduct groundwater sampling and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys
- Prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda
- Prepare subcontracts and manage subcontractor work
- Compile, interpret, and present field and laboratory data
- Assist with proposals, cost estimates, schedules, budgets, and health & safety planning
Responsibilities & Travel
This position blends office and field responsibilities:
- Office tasks: task coordination, data compilation & interpretation, report writing, regulatory file review, proposal support, schedule and budget tracking.
- Field tasks: soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling; remediation system O&M; subcontractor oversight.
- Travel: regional business travel is common — expect approximately 1–2 days/week on average; early-career travel may be higher (up to ~75% during the first two years), typically reducing to ~50% by year three. Occasional U.S. travel for up to two weeks may occur. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
- Emergency response support: may support Pacific Northwest and national incident response teams when needed; this can require unplanned travel and work outside standard hours.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, Engineering, or a closely related field (environmental, biological, physical science)
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Geology, Engineering, or closely related field
- Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
Other core qualities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, independent thinker, and collaborative team player
- Able to work effectively both remotely and on-site in field conditions
- Attention to health & safety procedures during fieldwork
Compensation & Benefits
- Employment type: Full time
- Base salary range: $55,200 — $82,800 per year (actual salary will vary based on experience, education, internal equity, project and location)
- Remote/telecommute: Role is telecommute-eligible with required regional field travel
