About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a GenAI Python Systems Engineer (Experienced Associate) to join their Data & Analytics Engineering practice in Portland, OR. This role focuses on building and operating cloud-native data systems and GenAI-enabled solutions—working with Python, large language model (LLM) workflows, SQL, and modern infrastructure tooling.
What You’ll Do
You will contribute to client projects across the data lifecycle, helping design, build, and maintain production data systems and GenAI capabilities.
- Build and maintain reliable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data stores.
- Develop Python-based services and tools that support ML/GenAI workloads and model inference.
- Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into data architecture and implementation plans.
- Implement and manage infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
- Containerize applications and support deployment workflows using Docker and CI/CD practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system reliability, performance, and cost.
- Follow developer-led testing practices to maintain software quality.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to operationalize ML/LLM models.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- At least 1 year of professional experience working with software or data engineering tasks.
- Practical experience with Python and SQL.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native tooling.
Preferred / Differentiating Skills
- Cloud certifications (for example: AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud architect/data engineer certifications).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager).
- Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker; Kubernetes familiarity is a plus).
- Understanding of machine learning and data science workflows, including deploying LLM-assisted applications.
- Experience designing data architectures, data warehouses, or lakehouse patterns.
- Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and cost management for data platforms.
- Strong communication skills for client- and team-facing work.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $61,000 - $100,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, and location and will comply with applicable employment laws.
- Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
- Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and family/medical leave. Specific benefit offerings vary by location and will be provided by Confidential Client.
Location & Work Arrangement
