Role Overview
The Gas Turbine Performance Engineer I will provide entry-level engineering support to evaluate and improve gas turbine thermal performance for a confidential client in the engineering sector. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you'll assist with performance analysis, field testing, combustion and fluid system studies, and technical reporting while developing core gas-turbine engineering skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support evaluation of gas turbine thermal performance (power output, heat rate, pressures, temperatures, component efficiencies).
- Assist in analysis of remote monitoring and operational data to identify performance, availability, and reliability opportunities.
- Perform diagnostic analysis to help identify performance losses and recommend corrective actions.
- Support compressor and turbine performance analysis with senior engineer oversight.
- Help develop thermal performance testing procedures aligned with ASME/ISO standards.
- Participate in field performance testing: data collection, validation, and reporting.
- Support combustion system and fuel utilization studies, including emissions analysis and troubleshooting.
- Assist in fluid system design work, including P&ID interpretation and component selection.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet engineering and operational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (thermal fluids emphasis preferred).
- 0–3 years' experience in gas turbine engineering, performance analysis, or closely related areas (including internships/co‑ops).
- Fundamental understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and gas turbine performance principles.
- Hands-on exposure to engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical problem solving.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% as required.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with engineering software, performance modeling tools, or scripting/programming for data analysis.
- Experience with field testing or instrumentation data acquisition.
- Knowledge of ASME or ISO thermal performance testing standards.
