What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level, full-time engineering role on a team building production web applications and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems. You will work with Python-first stacks to design, build, evaluate, and ship components that power intelligent features.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and develop high-quality web applications using Python, Flask, Django, and related technologies.
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code; participate in code reviews and follow best practices.
- Design and implement RAG pipelines on Google Cloud / Vertex AI (chunking, embeddings, indexing, retrieval, reranking, grounding).
- Build agentic workflows (tool use, planning, reflection/guardrails, structured outputs) using Python-first frameworks.
- Define and run evaluations (retrieval metrics, answer quality, hallucination/grounding checks) and iterate to improve system quality.
- Ship production-ready APIs and services: monitoring/observability, CI/CD, cost/performance optimization, and security best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and participate in project planning and estimation.
Requirements
- Experience in software development with Python 3.
- Familiarity with the software development and testing lifecycle.
- Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Experience with version control (Git).
- Experience building RAG solutions (hybrid search, reranking, chunking strategies, embeddings, prompt + schema design).
- Familiarity with at least one agentic / LLM orchestration framework (e.g., LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen) and tool/function-calling patterns.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years professional experience in Python web application development with Flask or Django.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs in Python.
- Experience with cloud services (GCP preferred; AWS experience is valuable).
- Familiarity with Vertex AI and GCP fundamentals (IAM, logging/monitoring, Cloud Run/GKE, object storage).
- Experience with knowledge graphs for RAG (entity linking, graph traversal + retrieval fusion).
- Experience with streaming/messaging systems (Pub/Sub, Kafka), document pipelines (Document AI), multilingual retrieval.
- Familiarity with evaluation tooling (RAGAS, TruLens, custom eval harnesses) and prompt/version management.
- Basic frontend integration experience (React/Next.js) or experience building internal developer platforms/tooling.
Compensation
- Base pay range: $65,000 — $80,000 per year. Actual pay will be determined by skills and experience in accordance with applicable laws.
Location & Employment Type
- Location: Philadelphia, PA (based on the role posting).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Seniority level: Entry level.
Why Join (Benefits & Team Culture)
- Work on modern retrieval and agentic systems with production impact.
- Gain hands-on experience with Vertex AI, embeddings, and RAG pipelines.
- Opportunity for mentorship and professional growth on a cross-functional engineering team.
- Inferred benefits (as commonly offered): medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) — confirm details with the recruiter.
