What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to design, build, and maintain cloud-based licensing systems that handle product activation, entitlements, renewals, and auditability. This is a contract role focused on both frontend and backend work in secure, regulated cloud environments.

• Design and implement full-stack features for product licensing workflows.
• Build responsive web applications using React (or comparable frontend frameworks).
• Develop and optimize backend services and data models using Ruby on Rails.
• Design and tune PostgreSQL schemas and queries for performance and scale.
• Implement and maintain APIs and backend services with strong test coverage.
• Containerize applications and manage deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated delivery.
• Translate security and compliance requirements (FedRAMP/DoD IL levels) into practical engineering controls.
• Collaborate with product, QA, security, and DevOps teams to deliver production-ready systems.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with React (or comparable frontend frameworks) and state management (e.g., Redux).
• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails (or a comparable server-side MVC framework).
• Proven ability with PostgreSQL — schema design, indexing, and query performance.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker for orchestration and containerization.
• Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Solid API/backend development experience; focus on reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Experience operating production cloud applications.
• Experience with security- and compliance-driven cloud environments (FedRAMP High, DoD IL5) is highly preferred.
• Comfortable working in a W-2 contractor engagement and producing clear engineering documentation.

Contract & Location Details

• Employment type: CONTRACTOR (W-2 only)
• Duration: 12 months (with possible extension)
• Location: San Jose, CA — TELECOMMUTE (remote work supported; applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S.)
• Compensation: $55.00 to $60.00 per hour
• Clearance/Compliance: Experience supporting regulated federal cloud environments preferred (FedRAMP High / DoD IL5)

• Prior work on cloud licensing, entitlement systems, or activation services.
• Experience with production observability (logging, tracing, metrics) and SRE practices.
• Familiarity with secure deployment patterns and audits for federal customers.
• Background in automated security testing and CI-integrated compliance checks.
