What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is building software people use to operate, monitor, and manage autonomous battery‑electric rail vehicles and fleets. You will join the Interfaces team and help deliver operator and customer-facing product surfaces.

• Build and improve operator and customer product platforms using TypeScript, React, and Rust.
• Ship features in an Electron-based operator application.
• Collaborate with product, vehicle, and systems engineers to translate operational needs into clear, reliable user interfaces.
• Own features end-to-end: gather requirements, implement, test, document, and follow through after merge.
• Grow into full‑stack product work as the enterprise product expands: data models, APIs, performance and reliability for software that interacts with real-world systems.

What Success Looks Like

• After 30 Days: You’ve set up your environment, learned how operators use the application, and shipped your first changes. You ask good questions and begin building relationships across teams.
• After 60 Days: You’ve owned a feature end-to-end (requirements → implementation → tests → docs → follow-through) and are improving code across the Interfaces codebase.
• After 90 Days: You’re a reliable contributor who identifies and fixes problems independently and has started contributing beyond UI work (data models, APIs, or reliability improvements).

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience (bootcamp plus portfolio, research, or shipped projects are acceptable).
• Comfortable writing software in TypeScript or Rust and building component-based UIs (React or similar).
• Able to read and improve existing codebases.
• Demonstrated ability to pick up new tools, languages, or domains quickly (class projects, internships, open source, personal projects, etc.).
• Strong communication and high agency; eagerness to learn and take ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Project or professional experience with Rust, React, TypeScript, or Python.
• Exposure to desktop wrappers (Electron, Tauri), backend development, or databases.
• Coursework or projects in networks, operating systems, or distributed systems.
• Experience pairing with AI coding tools and being transparent about their limitations.

Compensation & Location

• Target Salary Range (new hires): $122,000 USD — $141,000 USD.
• This role is based in Los Angeles, CA. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications in compliance with applicable laws.
