About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to support and enhance a customer-facing web application built on a micro-frontend architecture with cloud-native microservices. You’ll join cross-functional teams to deliver features that improve user experience and operational efficiency for mission-critical systems. This is a contract role with remote (telecommute) eligibility; candidates should be able to work in or near East Moline, IL as required by the engagement.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with engineering and technical leads to analyze requirements, create design specifications, and implement features.
- Build and integrate modular, reusable UI components within a micro-frontend architecture.
- Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js.
- Write, test, and deploy code to deliver moderately complex functionality across product areas.
- Lead resolution of medium-to-difficult technical challenges and production incidents, meeting SLAs.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance system performance, reliability, and observability.
- Coordinate development and deployments across teams and CI/CD pipelines.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript, building modular UI components in micro-frontend environments.
- Solid experience with Node.js for building backend services and REST APIs.
- Experience using Git-based repositories (e.g., GitHub) and implementing CI/CD (Github Actions or similar).
- Practical knowledge of securely consuming and exposing APIs between frontend and backend systems.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms, including ECS Fargate, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and Terraform.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL (schema design, queries, migrations).
- Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks (e.g., React Testing Library, JUnit, Bruno) and automated testing tools like Playwright.
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog or CloudWatch.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in software engineering or related field.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial/vehicle-related software projects.
- Deep familiarity with microservices patterns and micro-frontend orchestration.
- Experience with Terraform-driven infrastructure as code at scale.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and optimizing observability/alerts.
Compensation & Work Location
- Compensation: $50–$60 per hour DOE (Contractor). This range is the employer’s reasonable estimate for this role and may vary based on experience and other factors.
