What You’ll Do

We are looking for a hands-on Full Stack Engineer to own and ship production features end-to-end for a HIPAA-compliant, FHIR-native EHR platform. You will work across frontend, backend, databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure using a modern TypeScript/AWS stack.

• Build frontend, backend, database, and API components for end-to-end features
• Write production-quality, maintainable TypeScript code
• Develop and maintain React applications and Node.js services
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL queries and database schemas
• Build and integrate REST and FHIR APIs with a focus on authentication, versioning, and idempotency
• Write automated integration and application tests
• Use AI coding tools effectively as part of the daily development workflow
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and pair programming
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and participate in on-call rotation
• Follow HIPAA and PHI security requirements

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional full-stack web development experience
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js development experience
• Production experience with React (React 19/Vite preferred)
• Solid PostgreSQL and SQL skills: queries, performance troubleshooting, and migrations
• Production AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/Aurora, S3, CloudWatch)
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and integrating healthcare APIs (FHIR knowledge valued)
• 2+ years of daily experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor)
• Experience shipping production applications (not just POCs)
• HIPAA/PHI awareness or ability to quickly learn healthcare compliance requirements
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrated engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare, EHR/EMR, or healthcare integration experience
• FHIR R4 experience (resources, bundles, search parameters)
• Experience with modern TypeScript frameworks/tools (Hono, tRPC, Drizzle ORM or similar)
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience (AWS CDK, Terraform, Pulumi)
• Multi-tenant SaaS experience and PostgreSQL Row-Level Security
• Experience with Vitest, Playwright, Testcontainers, or comparable testing frameworks
• Observability tooling experience (OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Pino, etc.)
• Open-source contributions, especially in the TypeScript ecosystem

Logistics & Work Model

• Location: Brookfield, WI — eventual in-office presence is expected (Confidential Client)
• Employment: Full-Time (Contract-to-hire options available)
• Work model: Hybrid; contract-to-hire candidates may work primarily remotely during the contract period, with transition toward onsite within six months
• Time zone: Must overlap several hours with US Central Time
• Occasional travel may be required
• Reports to the Lead Product Architect
