Full Stack Engineer
The Full Stack Engineer at Confidential Client is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining end-to-end software solutions for advanced sensing products, including event-based camera and 3D reconstruction systems. This role involves developing scalable web applications, backend services, and data pipelines to process large datasets, collaborating with scientists and partners to deliver high-performance, reliable, and maintainable software in a dynamic startup environment focused on cutting-edge sensing technologies.
About Careertakes
👉 Important disclosure: Careertakes is a third-party recruiting platform supporting this hiring process. If selected, you will be employed directly by our client, Defense and Space Manufacturing.
Applicants for this role may also receive access to additional matched opportunities through the Careertakes platform.
What You’ll Do
This Full Stack Engineer role owns features end-to-end — from databases and backend services through APIs to front-end interfaces — and helps build systems that ingest, process, index, and serve large volumes of sensing data reliably.
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications (backend, APIs, front-end).
- Build responsive front-end interfaces for data visualization, reporting, and change detection (asset inspection dashboards, maps, 3D viewers).
- Develop scalable backend services and RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
- Design and optimize data pipelines and storage for large, high-rate datasets: ingestion, processing, indexing, querying, and efficient delivery to the frontend.
- Design database schemas and tune query performance across relational and non-relational stores.
- Deploy and operate cloud-hosted applications with CI/CD, containerization, monitoring, and logging.
- Integrate third-party platforms (drone platforms, GIS, asset-management systems) and internal data-processing components into a cohesive product.
- Write tests, review code, and document engineering decisions and best practices.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and commercial partners to translate product requirements into shipped features.
- Contribute to software architecture, technical planning, and the product roadmap.
What We’re Looking For
We value strong software engineering fundamentals, production-quality code, and a pragmatic approach to reliability and performance.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Professional experience building and maintaining production web applications across the full stack.
- Front-end experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or similar), HTML, and CSS.
- Back-end experience with Python, Node.js, Go, Java, or similar, including API design and implementation.
- Experience working with large datasets: database design, query optimization, and data processing at scale (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Spark, Parquet).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfortable with Linux environments, Git, automated testing, and debugging.
- Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Plotly, Three.js, or similar) is a plus.
- Comfortable in an early-stage / fast-evolving technology environment.
- Bonus: experience with geospatial, 3D, or point-cloud data, drone/UAV data pipelines, or infrastructure inspection workflows.
- Note on eligibility: many roles supporting this client may require the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances are typically granted only to U.S. citizens; applicants who accept a conditional offer may be subject to government background investigations and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
