Role overview

We are partnering with a confidential client — an early-stage, mission-driven EdTech startup — to hire a Full Stack Engineer who will be a foundational technical hire (developer #2). You will work hands-on across the stack (TypeScript/React/Next.js, Node.js, AWS), own production systems end-to-end, and help integrate LLMs into real, regulated workflows that serve K–12 school districts. This is an on-site role based in New York, NY (Bryant Park) — 5 days/week.

What you’ll do

  • Own core systems end-to-end, from first commit to production
  • Ship frequent, iterative releases (weekly) into a product used for high-stakes decisions
  • Integrate and operationalize LLMs and AI coding agents (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) into production workflows
  • Design and implement data privacy, security, and de-identification pipelines at scale
  • Make architecture trade-offs balancing speed, reliability, security, and cost
  • Work with minimal specs — define problems and deliver pragmatic solutions
  • Collaborate closely with founding engineer and cross-functional product stakeholders

Who you are / Requirements

  • 0–5 years of professional engineering experience with a steep learning curve and strong ownership mindset
  • Startup or early-stage experience preferred (founding/early hires or ownership of complex end-to-end projects)
  • Proficient in TypeScript, React / Next.js, Node.js, and AWS
  • Demonstrated experience integrating LLMs into production applications
  • Practical experience using AI coding agents (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) in real development workflows
  • Strong engineering judgment in security, privacy, and scalability trade-offs
  • Excellent communication and the ability to work without detailed specs
  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days/week in New York, NY (Bryant Park)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future

Compensation & benefits

  • Base salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year
  • Competitive equity package
  • Other standard startup benefits (details to be provided by our client during the interview process)

Location

  • On-site in New York, NY — 5 days per week (Bryant Park)

Why join

  • Build production-grade LLM integrations and privacy-preserving data systems used by school districts
