Overview — Frontier Certified Engineer (FCE)

Confidential Client is seeking early-career engineers to join an entry-level Frontier Certified Engineer (FCE) program focused on AI-enabled engineering, cloud, automation, and software delivery. This structured program combines training, mentorship, and hands-on project work to develop the skills needed to build AI-augmented solutions that deliver measurable client impact.


What You’ll Do

Confidential Client’s FCEs work in small, cross-functional pods to learn modern engineering practices, collaborate with experienced practitioners, and contribute to client-facing solutions.

  • Learn to use AI-assisted development tools and emerging engineering technologies to build and improve software solutions
  • Write, test, debug, and enhance code while collaborating with teammates and AI-powered tools
  • Support the development of AI-enabled applications, workflows, and automation solutions
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs for quality, accuracy, performance, and business relevance
  • Contribute to building knowledge systems, retrieval workflows, and data-driven solutions that improve AI experiences
  • Participate in testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation, and operational support activities
  • Collaborate within a small, cross-functional pod to deliver measurable customer and business outcomes
  • Apply responsible AI principles and engineering best practices when developing solutions
  • Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and delivery approaches in a rapidly evolving landscape
  • Complete training, certifications, and hands-on bootcamp projects to build Frontier capabilities

Who We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications)

This is an entry-level program for recent graduates and early-career technology professionals. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • Recent graduate or early-career professional with technical experience from coursework, internships, co-ops, research, military experience, certifications, hackathons, capstone projects, or personal projects
  • Demonstrated interest in software development, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, data engineering, automation, or related technology fields
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in team-oriented environments
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a rapid willingness to learn new technologies and practices
  • Ownership mindset and accountability for delivering high-quality work

Preferred Qualifications

(Preferred, not required — we encourage applicants with partial experience.)

  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or similar
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
  • Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development tools
  • Exposure to APIs, automation platforms, databases, software development methodologies, or data engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative source-control workflows
  • Project experience from academic, personal, or internship work involving software, AI, cloud, data, or automation technologies
  • Interest in responsible AI and continuous technical learning

Training & Certification

As part of the FCE program you will:

  • Complete a Frontier onboarding and structured bootcamp with hands-on projects
  • Pass the Frontier Center of Excellence assessment covering AI foundations, software engineering, cloud, infrastructure, production delivery, and business fundamentals
  • Earn Frontier certifications and participate in ongoing technical training and workshops
  • Learn alongside experienced Frontier practitioners and receive mentorship to accelerate your development

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $100,000 per year
  • Eligible for discretionary annual performance-based bonus and employee benefits that support physical, mental, and financial wellbeing

Location & Work Arrangement

  • This role is a hybrid position requiring approximately 3 days per week on-site in a client or Confidential Client office in Toronto, ON. Exact location and onsite schedule will be based on business and project needs.
