About the role
This entry-level engineering program (Frontier Certified Engineer, FCE) trains early-career technologists to build AI-enabled software, cloud, automation, and data solutions. As an FCE you’ll complete structured onboarding and a hands-on engineering bootcamp, work in a small cross-functional pod, and learn to collaborate with AI-assisted development tools to deliver measurable outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities
- Learn and use AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering technologies to build and improve software solutions.
- Write, test, debug, and enhance code in collaboration with teammates and AI tools.
- Support development of AI-enabled applications, automation workflows, and data-driven features.
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs for quality, accuracy, and business relevance.
- Contribute to deployment, monitoring, testing, documentation, and operational support tasks.
- Help build knowledge systems, retrieval workflows, and data solutions that improve AI experiences.
- Work within a small, cross-functional pod to deliver measurable customer outcomes.
- Apply responsible AI principles and engineering best practices.
- Continuously learn new tools, cloud services, and delivery approaches.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- Recent graduate or early-career professional with hands-on technical experience (projects, internships, research, military, certifications, hackathons, etc.).
- Demonstrated interest in software development, cloud technologies, AI, data engineering, automation, or related fields.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication and ability to work effectively in teams.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and accountability for delivering high-quality work.
Preferred (not required)
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development tools.
- Knowledge of APIs, databases, automation platforms, and software development methodologies.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows.
- Demonstrated project work involving software development, AI, cloud, or data tools.
Training & certification
- Pass the Frontier Center of Excellence assessment covering AI fundamentals, software engineering, cloud, infrastructure, production delivery, and business basics.
- Complete the Frontier engineering bootcamp with hands-on project work in a collaborative pod.
- Participate in ongoing technical learning and Frontier engineering development programs.
Total compensation
- Base salary: $100,000 per year (as listed by the client).
- Eligible for the client’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus and benefits that support physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
Location & work authorization
- This role is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence approximately 3 days per week in a Toronto, ON office (location may depend on the project).
