Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Frontier Certified Engineer (FCE) — an entry-level, full-time engineering role focused on AI-augmented software delivery. This program-style role combines structured training, a hands-on engineering bootcamp, mentorship, and client-facing project work. Ideal candidates are recent graduates or early-career technologists with strong technical foundations and a passion for AI, cloud, and software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply AI-assisted development tools to design, build, test, and enhance software solutions
  • Write, test, debug, and maintain code in collaboration with teammates and AI tools
  • Support development of AI-enabled applications, automation workflows, and data-driven solutions
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs for quality, accuracy, and business relevance
  • Contribute to deployment, monitoring, documentation, and operational support tasks
  • Build and maintain retrieval workflows, knowledge systems, and other data components that improve AI experiences
  • Apply responsible AI principles and engineering best practices
  • Participate in ongoing technical learning, certifications, and knowledge sharing

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Recent graduate or early-career professional with technical experience from coursework, internships, co-ops, research, military experience, certifications, capstone projects, hackathons, or personal projects
  • Demonstrated interest in software development, cloud, AI, data engineering, or automation
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with adaptability and a willingness to learn quickly
  • Ownership mindset and accountability for producing high-quality work
  • NOTE: Confidential Client will only consider applicants who are legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or similar)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
  • Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development tools
  • Experience with APIs, automation platforms, databases, or data engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with source control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Hands-on projects (academic, internship, open-source, or personal) involving software, cloud, AI, or automation

Training & Certification

  • Complete Frontier Center of Excellence assessment covering AI foundations, software engineering, cloud, infrastructure, production delivery, and business fundamentals
  • Finish the Frontier engineering bootcamp including hands-on project work in a collaborative pod
  • Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and Frontier engineering development programs
  • Earn Frontier certifications and continue professional development with guidance from experienced practitioners

Compensation & Location

  • Base salary: $100,000 per year
  • Eligible for discretionary annual performance-based bonus and benefits
  • Work model: Hybrid — generally requires ~3 days/week in a client or Confidential Client office in Toronto, ON. Exact working arrangements may vary by project and client needs.

  • Expected start: September 2026
