Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Front Office Software Engineer, Commodities to join a front-office technology team supporting commodities trading and global markets. You will design, build, and operate high-quality production software that delivers measurable business impact. This role is business-facing and requires close collaboration with traders and senior stakeholders to deliver trading systems and workflow automation.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, deploy, and maintain Python-based trading systems and services that support commodities desks.
- Partner closely with trading teams to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and deliver production-ready features.
- Take ownership of entire delivery lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Apply engineering best practices: automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, observability and incident management.
- Work with containerization and cloud technologies to package and operate services.
- Operate and troubleshoot production systems to ensure low-latency, high-availability trading workflows.
- Contribute to technical design and mentor peers on quality, security, and operational risk controls.
Qualifications
- Engineering experience using Python in a commercial software environment. Experience with C++ is a plus.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms.
- Experience or comfort working in an AI-assisted development lifecycle (code generation, assisted testing, etc.).
- Strong communication skills and experience working in a business-facing role.
- Focus on software quality, engineering best practices, and operational risk management.
- Awareness of financial markets; interest in commodities trading. Prior experience with commodities or derivatives is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is typical for this role.
Compensation & Incentives
- Base salary range: $80,000–$112,000 per year. Actual base pay will be determined by experience, location, and other lawful factors.
- Eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation in some cases.
