This entry-level Freight Audit Program Manager role is designed for new college graduates who want to begin a career in global logistics, freight audit, transportation billing, and process improvement. You’ll work alongside experienced logistics and finance teams to support freight invoice validation, carrier billing management, reporting, and systems integration.
What You’ll Do
You will support freight audit and payment activities, help maintain operational reporting, and contribute to process and system improvements. Typical responsibilities include:
- Review and audit freight invoices (parcel, LTL, FTL, ocean, air) against contracted rates, tariffs, and terms
- Validate accessorial charges (fuel surcharge, residential delivery, detention, etc.)
- Identify billing discrepancies, duplicate invoices, and unauthorized charges
- Act as a primary contact for carrier billing inquiries and disputes; drive structured dispute resolution
- Monitor carrier billing accuracy trends and escalate recurring issues
- Generate recurring reports on freight spend, billing accuracy, and exception trends
- Analyze invoice and spend data to identify cost-savings and process improvements
- Support month-end accruals and reconciliations with Finance and Procurement partners
- Work with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP (e.g., SAP), and freight audit tools; support integration testing and system enhancements
- Maintain audit trails, documentation, and process standardization efforts
- Contribute to SOP development, onboarding, and cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives
Technical skills & competencies
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to identify trends from data
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Comfort learning new systems (TMS, ERP, freight audit software) quickly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Solid organizational skills and ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Analytics, Operations Management, or a related discipline
- Recent college graduate / New College Grad employment type preferred
- Willingness to travel roughly 10% of the time
- Relocation eligible
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary range: $68,000 — $93,500 per year (range provided by confidential client)
- Compensation may include bonus and stock-award programs where applicable
