What You’ll Do
This role is the first line of defense for fraud and risk-related activity. You will triage cases, validate findings, escalate complex issues, and drive process improvements to reduce risk and improve detection effectiveness.
- Serve as the first-line investigator for fraud and risk cases: triage, validate attribution, document findings, and escalate when needed.
- Monitor operational trends and flag unusual activity or recurring risk patterns.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions and process improvements based on root-cause analysis.
- Lead or support projects to improve operational efficiency, governance, and workflow standardization.
- Translate business requirements into repeatable operational procedures and governance models.
- Coordinate with internal teams on investigations and remediation efforts.
- Track and ensure timely completion of operational deliverables.
Data & Tools You’ll Use
You’ll work with operational data, dashboards, and basic analytics to drive decisions and improve controls.
- Use SQL for data validation, querying, and investigative analysis.
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and spreadsheets to track KPIs and case outcomes.
- Perform data quality checks and support reporting pipelines.
- Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Who You Are (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational experience in fraud operations, risk management, security operations, compliance, or process improvement.
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience using spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) for analysis.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Problem-solver who is eager to learn new tools and adapt processes.
Nice-to-Have (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with fraud investigations, trust & safety, or security operations.
- Familiarity with governance, compliance, or operational risk frameworks.
- Exposure to fintech, payments, banking, e-commerce, or other regulated industries.
- Knowledge of account takeover (ATO) and account origination fraud (AOF) investigations.
- Experience creating dashboards and operational analytics to measure program health.
- Internship or entry-level background in fraud analysis, quality assurance, or process improvement.
