Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a contract, part-time Fraud & Risk Ops Analyst (Remote — PST time zone only). This is an operationally-focused, foundational role on the Security, Risk & Fraud team: you'll triage fraud and risk issues, keep day-to-day operations running, and drive process and governance improvements while building core analytical skills.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first line of defense on fraud/risk triage — validate cases, confirm attribution, and escalate complex investigations to L2 analysts.
- Execute well-defined operational tasks on time and communicate progress clearly.
- Recommend actionable process changes based on trend analysis and operational observations.
- Lead or support structured initiatives to improve systems, workflows, and governance adoption.
- Translate team requirements into analytical checks, dashboards, or governance frameworks.
- Support data pipeline work and dashboarding as needed to inform operational decisions.
- Use SQL and basic scripting for data validation and to interpret trends.
- Collaborate across teams to coordinate investigative solutions and remove operational roadblocks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, Information Systems, or related) — or equivalent practical experience (internship, bootcamp, certificate, or demonstrable analytical/SQL proficiency).
- Comfortable navigating multiple Google Sheets and using SQL in daily work (approx. 3+ years exposure).
- Foundational familiarity with fraud/risk operations, process improvement, or security triage.
- Strong process and governance instincts — able to identify inefficiencies and propose practical fixes.
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable coordinating across teams.
- Structured, detail-oriented problem solver who asks for guidance when needed.
- Growth mindset — quick learner who accepts feedback and owns operational tasks.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, contract capacity and meeting deadlines reliably.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Account Takeover (ATO) investigations and/or Australian Taxation Office (ATO) related investigations.
- Prior internship or entry-level experience in fraud/risk operations, security triage, or process/quality management.
- Experience with governance frameworks in regulated industries (fintech, banking, payments).
Compensation & Logistics
- Rate: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour (contract, part-time).
- Location: Remote — PST time-zone candidates only.
- Employment type: Contractor (part-time). Start date and duration are estimates and may change with client needs.
- Only applicants lawfully authorized to work in the designated country associated with the position will be considered.
Why This Role
- Hands-on operational experience in fraud and risk triage.
- Opportunity to drive process and governance improvements that materially reduce risk.
- Practical analytics exposure (SQL, dashboarding) with mentoring from an established security/risk team.
- Flexible, remote contract work in a mission-critical function within financial/fintech operations.
