Role Overview

The confidential client is hiring a Forward Deployed Software Engineering - Senior Associate to join their Tax-focused technology team in Boston, MA. In this Forward Deployed role you'll design, implement, and deliver scalable software that supports client-facing transformation initiatives. You will work across the software lifecycle—requirements, design, development, testing, deployment—and collaborate closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop end-to-end software solutions that enable digital transformation and improve business outcomes.
  • Design, code, test, and deploy applications using Java, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Build and manage API integrations and microservices to support modular, scalable systems.
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery and quality.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and maintain software quality.
  • Translate business requirements into pragmatic technical designs.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance and reliability.
  • Apply object-oriented design principles to produce maintainable architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, product, tax SMEs) to solve client problems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help grow technical skill across the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience.
  • Practical experience with at least one of: Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience working with APIs and microservices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tooling.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.; able to work in Boston, MA as required by the role.

Preferred / What Sets You Apart

  • Strong experience designing and operating microservices and API-first systems.
  • Demonstrated object-oriented design and test-driven development practices.
  • Proven ability to work in client-facing or consultant-style engagements.
  • Background in tax, accounting, or financial services technology is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring peers and participating in architectural design decisions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $77,000 - $214,000 per year. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and location, and will comply with applicable law.
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonus.
  • Benefits typically include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other standard employee benefits (details provided by the employer).
