Position Overview
Confidential Client is hiring Forestry Sawyers to join field crews working on forest health, fuels reduction, post-fire rehabilitation, and defensible-space projects. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that requires regular travel and extended field stays.
What You’ll Do
- Operate chainsaws for felling, directional felling, hazard felling, limbing and bucking
- Perform slash management: lop-and-scatter, chipping operations, and hauling material
- Climb, rig, and rope to safely remove hazardous or targeted trees
- Install erosion-control measures including contour felling and LEB creation/installation
- Assist with project layout, marking, and directing subcontractors to meet cutting prescriptions
- Maintain chainsaws and hand tools; perform general forestry labor as assigned
- Implement cutting prescriptions and safety procedures on varied project sites
Location & Travel
- Headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO. Projects may occur throughout Colorado and nearby states (e.g., WY, UT, NM, AZ, NV, CA).
- Travel: approximately 75–90% (extended periods on the road and multi-day field assignments are possible)
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age (role may require age 21+ for safety/regulatory reasons)
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon hire
- 1–2 years of outdoor work experience in forest management, restoration, logging, or similar fields
- Physically fit: able to bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs, and complete backcountry hikes with heavy gear at elevations of 6,000–10,000+ ft
- Willingness to perform strenuous outdoor work in variable weather and away from amenities for entire days
- NWCG S-212 (or equivalent) preferred; non-certified applicants with 2+ years’ relevant experience will be considered. If hired without S-212, Confidential Client may support obtaining certification within the first year.
Preferred Qualifications
- NWCG S-130/190 wildfire training
- ISA certification or electrical hazard tree-trimming certification
- Saw mechanic experience or formal Sawyer certifications
- Experience with helicopter logging or heavy-equipment operation (or willingness to train)
- Degree or enrollment in forestry or natural-resources program (Associates or Bachelor’s)
- Ability to identify tree species and calculate basal area
- First Aid, CPR, Wilderness First Aid, or other medical certifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Compensation & Benefits

- Entry-level: $22–25 per hour
- Mid-level: $25–28 per hour
- High-level: $28–31 per hour
