Confidential Client is hiring a Food Service Manager in Rives Junction, MI. This is an entry-level, full-time culinary leadership role with a structured training program (approx. 6 months) that leads to placement as a Lead Cook in the restaurant foods area. The role emphasizes hands-on cooking, employee mentorship, food-safety compliance, and delivering high-quality prepared foods to customers.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the Sous Chef in running daily kitchen operations and supervise staff in the Sous Chef’s absence
- Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to ensure consistent, high-quality products
- Train and develop cooks and prep staff; provide feedback and performance coaching
- Educate customers and team members on product uses and meal-solution ideas across departments
- Monitor food safety, quality assurance, and portion control to support profitability
- Support inventory control and assist with ordering and product rotation
- Be flexible to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of experience as a prep cook or line cook
- Practical knowledge of food safety and quality assurance principles
- Ability to work a full-time schedule that includes weekends and variable shifts
- Must meet any legal age requirements for the role (typically 18+ where applicable)
Preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field
- Experience in multi-faceted food service environments (restaurant, hotel, country club, conference center, casino, theme park, etc.)
- Prior experience supervising kitchen staff or leading small teams
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay range: $21.75 - $22.50 per hour
- Employment type: Full time
- Schedule: Morning, afternoon, evening shifts; includes weekend availability
- This posting describes an entry-level structured training program with mentorship; successful completion places the hire as a Lead Cook.
Location & mobility
- Job location: Rives Junction, MI
- Candidates may be considered for placement at multiple nearby store locations within the region based on operational needs.
- Some local travel between stores may be required depending on assignments.
