What You’ll Do

The Flight Simulator Technician 1 performs maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD) — including Full Flight Simulators (FFS), Fixed Training Devices (FTD), and Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATD) — to keep devices operational, certified, and ready for training.

  • Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer schedules and documented procedures.
  • Execute corrective maintenance and diagnostics using manufacturer software/tools and guidance from senior technicians.
  • Power-up and power-down simulators and related subsystems safely and according to procedure.
  • Support simulator training events with technical troubleshooting and on-site assistance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inventory, and compliance records using company systems.
  • Operate and document Quality Test Guides (QTG); participate in authority qualification evaluations.
  • Install, configure, test, and commission new or modified hardware and software.
  • Provide professional customer support to instructors and trainees; communicate equipment status proactively.
  • Train and mentor entry-level technicians on routine maintenance and troubleshooting best practices.
  • Lead or assist as Subject Matter Expert (SME) during simulator modifications and qualification evaluations.
  • Perform advanced hardware/software diagnostics and component-level repairs as required.
  • Work cooperatively across the training center and support teams to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Flexible to work required shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • AS degree, 2-year vocational/technical certificate, A&P certificate, relevant military technical training, or equivalent in Electronics, Avionics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 3 years of related technical experience (including electronics/avionics/systems maintenance).
  • 0–2 years direct hands-on flight simulator technical support or simulator maintenance experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with electronics, software utilities, and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and record-keeping skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (preferred).
  • Experience with FFS / FTD / AATD platforms and Quality Test Guides (QTG).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., 14 CFR Part 60, CS-FSTD(A)) and simulator qualification processes.
  • Experience training others and serving as technical lead or SME during evaluations and modifications.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: USD $37.02 – $55.54 per hour (hourly range provided by Confidential Client).
