Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Fingerprint Analyst I to support the Biometric Identification Unit. This role is responsible for processing, classifying, verifying, recording, and searching fingerprint data using automated biometric systems. The position follows ANAB accreditation and OSAC best practices for the friction ridge discipline. This posting is for a full-time role based in Davie, FL; telecommute/remote procedures apply per unit policy.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with classification, filing, and recording of fingerprint and related biometric data per departmental and NCIC procedures.
  • Enter ten-print sets, perform quality control and verification on the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
  • Perform searches, updates, and comparisons of fingerprint records and related documents.
  • Respond to law-enforcement and internal agency inquiries about fingerprint data and identifications.
  • Prepare reports and records related to unit functions; may attend depositions, trials, or other court appearances when required.
  • Follow the Biometric Identification Unit (BIU) Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Assurance Manual, and BIU Training Manual.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in natural or physical sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics — OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (must be clearly documented).
  • Experience or training involving fingerprint analysis and classification is preferred.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver’s license throughout employment, without restrictions that affect job performance.
  • Ability to pass required selection and background checks (see Recruitment & Selection Process).

Required Certifications & Training (timeline)

The following must be completed within one (1) year of hire and maintained throughout employment with the Biometric Identification Unit:

  • Completion of all modules in the BIU Training Manual.
  • Successful completion of an FBI Basic Fingerprint Pattern Interpretation Course (40 hours) or equivalent.
  • FCIC/NCIC certification.
  • Successful completion of an annual external proficiency test in the friction ridge discipline.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Work shift: Alpha shift (10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.).
  • Primarily sedentary to light work; may involve occasional lifting or moving items up to ~5–10 pounds.
  • Extended periods at a computer or workstation may be required.
  • Work performed in standard office/laboratory conditions with minimal exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.

Compensation

  • Salary range (posted): $53,495.40 — $82,988.90 per year. This range reflects the base annual pay identified for this vacancy.
