Overview

Confidential Client (Public Sector — County Government) is hiring a Financial Systems Analyst I to support finance and accounting systems for multiple county departments. This flexibly hybrid role is based in Santa Barbara, CA and offers a competitive salary range and public‑sector benefits.

  • Salary range (series): $110,258.72 – $132,899.52 (Analyst I); $115,498.24 – $139,299.68 (Analyst II)
  • Employment type: Full‑time (part‑time opportunities may also be available)
  • Location: Santa Barbara, CA — hybrid workplace

What You’ll Do

You will join a cross‑functional team to design, implement, test, and maintain automated and manual financial accounting systems. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate current financial workflows and accounting systems for efficiency and controls
  • Gather requirements and obtain stakeholder input for system improvements and new applications
  • Coordinate design, testing, and implementation of system changes and integrations
  • Support system processes, troubleshoot issues, and improve workflows
  • Review proposals for departmental systems and assess internal controls and security
  • Prepare documentation, user manuals, and technical specifications
  • Present evaluations and recommendations to management and advisory committees
  • Provide direction and functional supervision to technical, accounting, and clerical staff as needed

Who We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

Candidates must meet one of the following employment standards:

  • Valid CPA certificate AND one year of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or programmer analyst that included participation in the design of financial accounting systems; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or related field AND two years of relevant professional experience that included participation in the design of financial accounting systems; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Required knowledge and abilities:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and auditing standards
  • Familiarity with systems analysis, computer systems design, and application development
  • Understanding of relational databases and database design methods
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, develop solutions, prioritize work, and present findings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with nontechnical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience with county or public‑sector financial systems (e.g., ERP/financial management systems)
  • Project management experience and familiarity with internal controls and security in accounting applications
  • Hands‑on experience with SQL or other database query tools
