Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Financial Support Specialist to provide financial, accounting, budget, and compliance support in a federal environment based in Arlington, VA. This role is ideal for candidates with a foundational accounting or finance education, strong attention to detail, and comfort working with financial documentation and Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities
- Review accounting practices and financial documentation for compliance with federal laws, regulations, government accounting practices, and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance
- Review and analyze financial statements and supporting documentation for accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures
- Identify discrepancies, improper expenditures, and other financial issues that may require corrective action
- Support preparation of budget requests and other financial documentation for office operations
- Organize, review, and maintain financial records and supporting documentation
- Perform financial research, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting as needed
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office tools to prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and documentation
- Provide general financial and administrative support to the Government client
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- General knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial analysis
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliation, budgeting, accounting, or audit support preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work onsite in Arlington, VA
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
Location & Clearance
This position requires regular onsite work in Arlington, VA. Candidates must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance and able to comply with any site-specific security or personnel requirements.
