Position Overview
Confidential client is hiring a Financial Specialist in Paterson, NJ. This full-time role supports the finance division with accounting, reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, budgeting, and data analysis. The position offers professional growth, a hybrid schedule (up to 2 remote days), and requires regular on-site presence in Paterson.
What You’ll Do
- Perform reconciliations and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and maintain financial spreadsheets and MS Excel analysis reports
- Create management reports using legacy and other financial systems (including NJ START invoice processing)
- Prepare and enter accounting journal entries
- Complete accounts payable tasks and support internal and external audits
- Assist in developing budgets and collecting financial/case statistics for status reporting
- Work within established internal controls and recommend improvements to procedures and processes
- Interact with all levels of management and participate in team meetings; provide cross-training to coworkers
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs
Example of Duties
Regular and predictable physical presence at the Paterson worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires attention to deadlines, strong technical and PC skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, statistics, mathematics, data analytics and/or related financial courses — including at least 6 credit hours in accounting
- Substitution allowed: applicants lacking the degree but with the required 21 credit hours may substitute paraprofessional/professional experience on a year-for-year basis (1 year = 30 semester hours)
- Strong MS Excel and data-analysis skills; experience preparing spreadsheets and management reports
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple assignments
- Demonstrated ability to follow regulatory policies and operate within internal controls
- Ability to pass required background checks (including fingerprinting) as applicable
Salary & Schedule
- Salary range: $61,749.69 — $100,154.67 per year (Schedule A). Schedule B range applies for some employees as noted by the hiring organization’s policies. For newly hired individuals, starting salary is typically at the minimum of the range.
- Employment type: Full-time
- Hybrid schedule: may qualify for up to 2 days remote work; remote participation requires multifactor authentication and high-speed home internet.
