What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Financial Specialist to join a busy finance division serving public-sector programs. This role focuses on accounting, transaction processing, reconciliation, reporting and internal controls. You’ll support finance operations, act as a liaison across teams, and help improve processes.

  • Act as a liaison with internal teams, vicinages, central office and external stakeholders to support financial workflows
  • Analyze requisitions, vouchers, bank statements and other financial transactions
  • Monitor, screen and process financial transactions, modifications and accounting entries
  • Process receipts, reconcile balances and accounts, and verify entered data against source documents
  • Prepare accounting entries and calculate payroll/salary-related data
  • Collect and maintain case statistics and financial data for status reports (including grants and federal programs)
  • Perform financial and internal-control audits and review activities for adherence to policies and laws
  • Extract and reconcile data from legacy and proprietary systems
  • Provide high-quality customer service to court users and internal customers
  • Participate in team meetings and special projects; recommend process improvements

Qualifications

Minimum required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent substitution) including or supplemented by 21 semester credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, statistics, mathematics, data analytics, or related financial courses — with at least 6 credit hours in accounting
  • Strong Excel skills (data manipulation, formulas, pivot tables)
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with multiple systems and extract data from legacy platforms
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal forms

Substitution rule: applicants without the required degree but with the required coursework may substitute relevant paraprofessional/professional experience on a year-for-year basis (1 year experience = 30 semester hour credits).

Preferred (not required): prior experience in public-sector accounting, grants reporting, or financial audits.


Compensation & Work Schedule

  • Salary range (provided by source): $61,749.69 to $100,154.67 per year (Schedule A) and $61,749.69 to $95,146.95 per year (Schedule B).
  • For newly hired individuals, starting salary is normally at the minimum of the posted range.
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • The role offers opportunity for growth and advancement within finance operations.

Location & Remote Work

  • Work location: Hackensack, NJ (Confidential Client office).
  • Hybrid schedule: this position may qualify for up to 2 days per week of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Participation requires installation of a multifactor authentication app and access to high-speed home internet.
  • Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this role.
