Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Financial Risk & Markets - Data & Technology - Experienced Associate to join their Technology Consulting team in Chicago, IL. This role focuses on extracting insights from large datasets, building data pipelines, creating visualizations, and applying statistical and machine learning techniques to support data-driven decision-making for financial-risk and market-facing clients.


What You’ll Do

  • Conduct complex data analysis to extract actionable insights that support client decision-making.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to optimize client operations and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and integrations to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Create dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and Tableau to visualize trends and KPIs.
  • Develop and validate statistical models and predictive algorithms to inform risk analysis and forecasting.
  • Use scripting and ML tools (e.g., Python, SAS) to prototype and productionize analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with client teams and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Implement data security, validation, and governance best practices to protect sensitive information.
  • Research and iterate on algorithm and model improvements to increase accuracy and performance in production contexts.

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in data analysis, analytics, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Practical experience with data manipulation and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL).
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling, predictive analytics, or machine learning workflows.

Preferred / What Sets You Apart

  • Degree or coursework in Accounting, Engineering, Data Analytics/Science, Computer & Information Science, Economics, or Finance.
  • Certifications or hands-on experience with Databricks, MS SQL, Power BI, AWS/Azure/GCP, Python, or SAS.
  • Proven experience applying machine learning to financial risk or market data.
  • Experience building dashboards, complex data models, and production-grade data pipelines.
  • Prior consulting experience or client-facing project work is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $63,000 - $140,000 (actual pay depends on skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws).
  • Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and personal/family sick leave (benefits summary available upon request).
