Role Overview

This opportunity is a Contract (with potential full-time conversion) Financial Project Accountant role supporting a confidential client in the Accounting & Finance sector, based in Ankeny, IA. What You’ll Do

You’ll work across a variety of accounting functions and contribute to project financials and month-end close activities.

• Accounts payable processing, vendor onboarding, payment administration
• Accounts receivable, cash application, and customer account support
• Account reconciliations, research, and resolution of discrepancies
• Financial reporting and project performance reporting (project accounting)
• Month-end and year-end close support
• Support tax documentation and compliance activities
• Participate in process-improvement initiatives and special projects
• Collaborate with operations and project teams to support accurate job costing

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds — experienced accounting professionals and emerging accounting talent both encouraged to apply.

• Preferred experience
  • Construction accounting or project-based accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of job costing, subcontractor processes, lien waivers, and project accounting best practices
  • Experience with Sage 300 CRE or similar accounting software is a plus
• Emerging professionals
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
  • Internship, bookkeeping, or entry-level accounting experience welcomed
  • Strong attention to detail, curiosity, and eagerness to learn
• Skills & attributes
  • Solid Excel skills and comfort with general ledger concepts
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication; effective team player
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to contribute to process improvements
