Financial Engineer
The Financial Engineer at Confidential Client will develop and maintain advanced quantitative financial models and analytics tools to support the Capital Markets Analytics team, focusing on Secondary Marketing MSR positions. This role involves close collaboration with trading and hedging teams to deliver data-driven insights, automate processes, and produce analytical reports related to valuation, risk, and stress testing within the residential mortgage industry.

What You’ll Do
You will join the Capital Markets Analytics team supporting Secondary Marketing and MSR portfolios. In this role you’ll build, maintain, and improve financial models and analytics that drive trading, hedging, valuation, and risk reporting.
- Build, maintain and validate quantitative processes: data mining, predictive modeling, and complex data processing.
- Maintain and enhance core financial models (prepayment, mortgage rate, delinquency, MSR valuation) and develop new algorithms as needed.
- Design, develop and support scalable data platforms, databases and ETL/ELT pipelines for Capital Markets Analytics, MSR, Early Buyout (EBO), and servicing functions.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly analytical reports: valuation, risk metrics, stress testing, and model updates.
- Partner closely with trading and hedging desks to provide data-driven recommendations and ad-hoc analysis.
- Identify and implement automation to improve accuracy, scalability and operational efficiency.
What You’ll Need
- 1+ years of relevant experience in quantitative analytics, financial engineering, data engineering or related roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field required; Master’s or MBA preferred.
- Entry-level knowledge of the residential mortgage industry (Correspondent or Retail Lending) — sales, operations, capital markets and related mortgage products.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to mortgage servicing and capital markets.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with C#, SQL Server, Excel (including VBA), and Power BI.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with statistical analysis using R or Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain quantitative concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation
- Base salary range for Westlake Village, CA: $107,395 — $132,661 per year.
- Role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives based on performance and business results.
- Salary is determined by the specific job location and candidate experience.
