What You’ll Do
This Confidential Client is hiring Financial Data Analysts to support anticipated federal contract work focused on budget execution, financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and automation. You will translate financial data into actionable reports and dashboards, support audit readiness, and streamline recurring processes.
- Analyze financial, budget, and operational data to support management decision-making.
- Track obligations, commitments, expenditures, execution rates, and other budget execution metrics.
- Create and maintain Status of Funds, variance, reconciliation, and financial tracking reports.
- Reconcile transactions and identify discrepancies across financial systems and data sources.
- Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and other reporting solutions to communicate financial performance.
- Automate recurring financial reports, notifications, approvals, and data collection workflows.
- Build and maintain financial models and repeatable reporting tools using Excel and Power Query.
- Support financial data validation, internal controls, and audit readiness activities.
- Document financial processes, automated workflows, and reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with budget officers, resource managers, program managers, and other stakeholders.
Tools & Systems You’ll Use
Candidates should be proficient with core analysis and reporting tools and ideally have experience with one or more federal/DoD financial systems.
- Primary tools:
- Microsoft Excel — advanced formulas, pivot tables, reconciliation
- Power Query — data cleanup, transformation, recurring reporting
- Microsoft Power BI — dashboards and visual reporting
- Microsoft Power Automate — workflow and report automation
- Federal / DoD financial systems (highly desirable): DEAMS, GFEBS, DTS, Checkbook, Pegasys
- Additional skills a plus: SQL, Tableau
Qualifications
- Proven experience in financial or budget analysis, budget execution, or financial reconciliation.
- Strong Excel skills, including building models and reconciliation tools.
- Practical experience developing Power BI dashboards and recurring financial reports.
- Experience automating financial or administrative processes using Power Query/Power Automate or similar.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, data analytics, or related field preferred.
- Experience with federal or DoD financial management is strongly preferred.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Hands-on experience reconciling across multiple systems of record.
- Familiarity with DEAMS, GFEBS, Pegasys, or other federal financial systems.
- Prior experience supporting audits or internal control activities.
- Experience working in a federal contracting environment.
