FINANCIAL ANALYST
The Financial Analyst at Confidential Client provides operational and analytical support to the Finance and Accounting functions, focusing on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and asset/liability management. This developmental role works closely with the Financial Controller to build proficiency in credit union financial management, regulatory reporting, and process improvement, contributing to accurate financial data and supporting strategic initiatives.

What You’ll Do
This is a developmental Financial Analyst role supporting the Finance function and reporting to the AVP Financial Controller. You will provide operational and analytical support to help maintain accurate financial reporting, improve processes, and build capacity for strategic financial work.
- Prepare recurring financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for management and Board reporting on behalf of the confidential client.
- Compile, validate, and analyze financial data; identify trends, variances, and anomalies for Controller review.
- Assist with financial modeling, profitability and ROI analyses, forecasts, and ad hoc financial studies.
- Support the annual budget process and ongoing forecasting; maintain model inputs, assumptions, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain and validate data for asset/liability management; assist with liquidity, rate-shock, pricing, sensitivity, and scenario analyses.
- Support investment reporting and coordination with external brokers/advisors; assist with CECL reserve analysis and data validation.
- Perform recurring operational finance tasks including reconciliations, report maintenance, documentation, and data management.
- Assist with audit, regulatory, Supervisory Committee, and Board reporting requests; gather documentation and maintain organized supporting records.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, internal controls, processes, and documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to collect data and support cross-functional financial objectives.
- Learn and develop broader finance skills through hands-on assignments and guidance from the Controller.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience preferred; entry-level candidates with internships, relevant coursework, or demonstrated analytical ability will be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required — ability to organize data, build/maintain models, perform calculations, and prepare clear reports.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify trends and variances.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare clear schedules and documentation for internal and external reviewers.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate supporting records.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Experience in financial institution reporting, budgeting, forecasting, or financial modeling.
- Familiarity with CECL methodologies, investment reporting, or asset/liability management.
- Prior exposure to audit or regulatory reporting processes.
- Any experience working in credit unions, banking, or public accounting.

Compensation & Location
- Location: Waterford, CT (on-site or as specified by the confidential client).
- Estimated compensation (from source data): $79,816 per year (estimated).
