What You’ll Do
As a Financial Aid Counselor with our confidential client you will support students and families through the financial aid process. This entry-level, full-time role focuses on customer service, accurate recordkeeping, compliance with federal/state/institutional regulations, and collaborative outreach with admissions and campus partners.
- Provide high-quality, welcoming service by answering phone, email, and in-person inquiries from students, families, and campus colleagues
- Advise students and parents on financial aid eligibility, FAFSA completion, aid programs, packaging policies, costs, and the university billing process
- Process and verify financial aid documents and tax records accurately and in a timely manner (including verification work)
- Maintain secure, confidential student records in compliance with privacy regulations
- Learn and apply federal, state, and institutional financial aid rules and procedures
- Assist with basic outreach: prepare informational materials and present workshops or information sessions for students and families
- Collaborate with Admissions to support recruitment and timely financial aid communications
- Perform other duties as assigned to support office operations and student success
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has strong communication and customer-service skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn financial aid policy and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree required (or 1–2 years comparable experience in customer service, higher education administration, or banking/finance)
- Clear, empathetic oral and written communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple administrative deadlines
- Basic quantitative comfort working with budgets and aid calculations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work accurately with sensitive student information
- Team player who can also work independently on assigned tasks
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
Skills & Tools
- Customer service and student advising
- FAFSA guidance and basic verification processes
- Records management and data accuracy
- Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Excel specifically)
- Experience with student information systems (e.g., Workday, PowerFAIDS) is a plus but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary: $33,905 per year (as listed) — actual compensation will be set by the confidential client.
