Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Financial Accountant to join a Financial Spreading team within Commercial Banking Operations. This is a 9-month W2 contract (contract-to-hire possible) supporting credit analysis by reviewing, standardizing, and validating company financial statements. This role is hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) and pays $26/hour.
What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level / early-career role focused on accurate, consistent financial data extraction and preparation for downstream credit analysis.
- Review and interpret balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Extract, classify, and standardize financial data per established spreading guidelines.
- Work with PDFs, scanned documents, tax returns, financial reports, and accounting exports.
- Identify typical account balances and map them into standardized spreading templates.
- Validate information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Research and resolve discrepancies or incomplete records.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and follow internal controls.
- Apply feedback during training and improve quality and productivity over time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field with meaningful accounting coursework.
- Solid understanding of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement and how they connect.
- Ability to identify common accounts and explain implications for a company’s financial position.
- Familiarity with basic accounting concepts: assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, expenses, retained earnings, depreciation, amortization, liquidity.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a structured, production-driven environment.
- Willingness to accept and implement feedback quickly.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent graduate or early-career candidate with internships or work experience in accounting, audit, financial analysis, commercial credit, banking, AR/AP, underwriting, or financial reporting.
- Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements (coursework, internships, or professional).
- Exposure to reconciliations, general ledger activity, month-end close, or journal entries.
- Experience cleaning or validating financial data.
- Familiarity with systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, nCino, or other accounting/financial platforms.
- Understanding of financial ratios and concepts like liquidity, profitability, leverage, and cash flow analysis.
Work Environment & Training
- Heads-down, individual-contributor environment where accuracy and productivity matter.
- New hires will complete approximately 4–6 weeks of structured training before production expectations increase.
- Successful team members are resourceful, attentive during training, ask thoughtful questions, and apply feedback quickly.
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote; 40 hours/week.
Compensation & Contract Details
- Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour (W2).
- Contract length: 9 months (contract-to-hire potential).
