Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Field Service Engineer to perform on-site service, start-up, and maintenance on semiconductor processing equipment. This role is based in Boise, ID and involves hands-on mechanical work, customer interaction, and travel to customer sites. Training is provided; motivated candidates with mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

• Perform on-site service, repair, and start-up of semiconductor processing equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment faults and restore systems to operation.
• Order, install, and replace parts as needed.
• Maintain accurate service records and reports.
• Coordinate with peers, supervisors, and customers to minimize equipment downtime.
• Respond to emergency service calls when required.
• Instruct customer operating technicians on system operation and routine maintenance.
• Perform upgrades and modifications to equipment as needed.
• Keep current on equipment, tools, and procedures through training and manuals.
• Care for company property assigned (vehicles, tools, test equipment) and follow site conduct requirements.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in electronics, engineering, or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology is a plus but not required.
• 0+ years acceptable — entry-level candidates with relevant hands-on experience or training will be considered.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience or interest in mechanical assembly.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools; manual dexterity.
• Strong customer-interface and communication skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and clean-room environments.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and respond to service calls as needed.

Preferred / Helpful Background

• Any experience working with semiconductor capital equipment, industrial machinery, or complex mechanical/electrical systems.
• Hobbies or outside experience involving tools, assembly, building, or following technical instructions are valued by hiring managers.
• Interest in continual learning, certifications, and career growth in field service engineering.

• Job duties are often performed in confined areas in a clean-room environment, in awkward positions, and/or at heights.
• On-call or emergency response may be required occasionally.
• Travel to customer sites is required; incumbents are responsible for the upkeep and safe operation of company tools and vehicles.
