Confidential Client is hiring a Field Operations Manager (Mechanical Engineering) to lead and scale field operations in Richardson, TX. This is a hands-on, field-first engineering role where you will spend most of your time at job sites, coaching crews, resolving operational constraints, and turning engineering analysis into measurable improvements. This role is best for an early-career mechanical engineer seeking rapid ownership and leadership exposure.

What You’ll Own

  • Daily field performance for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and customer experience
  • Crew productivity, labor utilization, installation capacity, and project throughput
  • Richardson-area field scheduling, workforce planning, and job-site sequencing
  • Development and enforcement of standard operating procedures supporting scale
  • Operational dashboards, performance reporting, and corrective-action plans
  • Coaching, accountability, and career development for field personnel
  • Identification and development of future crew leads and field leaders

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead daily installation and construction activities across the Richardson market
  • Spend the majority of your time on job sites—inspecting, coaching, troubleshooting
  • Set expectations and hold teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and schedules
  • Analyze workflows to find bottlenecks, capacity constraints, delays, rework, and waste
  • Improve crew assignments, route planning, material flow, scheduling, and sequencing
  • Build practical dashboards tracking labor utilization, cycle time, throughput, quality, and cost
  • Redesign inefficient processes and test improvements directly in the field
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring issues
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, warehouse, customer service, and leadership
  • Present regional performance, constraints, and improvement plans to company leadership
  • Make confident, timely decisions with limited oversight

Who We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • 0–5 years of professional experience; new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in real field-system performance
  • Demonstrated leadership (athletics, military, student orgs, internships, startups, etc.)
  • Willingness to work on job sites and adapt to changing field conditions
  • Ability to earn credibility with installers, electricians, and technicians
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Richardson market
  • Analytical ability combined with a bias for action and decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years experience in construction, installation, manufacturing, field services, equipment, or project operations
  • Familiarity with construction methods, mounting systems, HVAC, electrical equipment, or mechanical integration
  • Experience with inspections, quality control, failure analysis, or corrective actions
  • Knowledge of job-site safety, building standards, and construction documentation
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, PMP, CM-Lean, or Lean Six Sigma
  • Leadership experience in competitive team environments
