About the Role
The Field Engineer will be based out of an operations facility and will support product field trials, system installations, and operations in pulp & paper mills, food & beverage facilities, water treatment sites, and other industrial plants across the US and internationally. This is a hands-on engineering role appropriate for recent graduates and experienced engineers who enjoy travel, customer-facing work, and practical troubleshooting.
This role is located in Oak Ridge North, TX (telecommute-friendly). The position requires regular travel to customer sites (approximately 25–50%) and flexible hours when on site.
What You’ll Do
- Install, commission, and provide operational support for chemical production systems at customer facilities (trials and permanent installs)
- Travel to customer sites and run product trials; coordinate with customer teams and on-site staff
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair chemical production and processing equipment
- Test and evaluate systems before and after deployment
- Collect, analyze, and report on process data and key performance indicators
- Conduct chemical analyses of product and treated process streams
- Manage logistics and prepare equipment and materials for field deployment
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and HSEQ teams to identify improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, environmental) or equivalent experience
- Strong problem-solving skills with process equipment, automation, chemical manufacturing, or municipal/industrial water treatment
- Comfortable traveling independently and working in industrial plant environments (walking, stairs, temperature variation)
- Willingness to travel ~25–50% (domestic and occasional international travel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication — professional customer interactions required
- Proficient with spreadsheets and data presentation tools (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Able to work independently and proactively drive projects forward
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on mechanical or plumbing experience and equipment assembly/fabrication
- Experience in pulp & paper, water treatment, chemical, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage manufacturing
- Familiarity with chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and unit conversions
- Experience with chemical hygiene and safety programs
- Experience with PLCs, process sensors, control signals, motors, and pumps
- Familiarity with engineering design tools and Google Suite
- Project management and process hazard analysis experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $80,000–$85,000 annually (range provided)
