Overview
Confidential Client is hiring entry-level Field Engineers (New Graduates) to begin in May 2027. This role provides hands-on experience on heavy civil infrastructure projects—highways, bridges, and transportation works—throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The position is predominately field-based and reports to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
Estimated salary: $96,828 per year (estimated).

Position Summary
Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager with all aspects of construction project execution including financial administration, cost reporting, documentation, and field activities. This is primarily a field role requiring on-site presence, jobsite PPE, and travel within project regions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with pre-construction activities: planning, constructability reviews, interpretation of design and drawings
- Read and interpret specifications, drawings, standards, and subcontractor/supplier scopes of work
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, sketches, shop drawing reviews, and support change order documentation
- Verify work-in-place quantities for invoicing and pay quantities
- Maintain submittal and RFI logs; post RFI, bulletin and ASI documentation as needed
- Track project documentation and prepare or assist with project status reports and meeting minutes
- Take weekly jobsite photographs and support quality control activities
- Ensure accurate craft time cards and verify cost codes for purchases, equipment time, and labor
- Support project close-out activities and estimating as required
- Demonstrate and reinforce all company safety policies and procedures
Essential Qualifications
Target candidates: students completing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field between December 2026 and May 2027.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical training (4-year degree preferred)
- 0–4 years of field construction experience (entry-level)
- Internship or co-op experience with heavy civil, highway, bridge, transportation or general contractor preferred but not required
- E.I.T. preferred but not required
- Ability to read and interpret plans and mentor less-experienced personnel
- Proficiency with common office and construction-related computer tools; understanding of cost analysis and estimating
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel as required
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to carry tools and equipment; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently work or walk on uneven ground and wear steel-toed boots and approved PPE at all times
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; work outside in variable weather and sometimes in confined spaces
- Tasks may require standing for long periods and performing repetitive, short-duration duties per procedures and standards
