Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring entry-level Field Engineers to support transit, light-rail, and data-center infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career candidates with construction, civil, electrical, mechanical, or construction-management backgrounds who are willing to travel and relocate to meet project needs across North America.

Estimated salary: $64,961 per year (reported/estimated).


District / Company Overview

Confidential Client is a leading contractor in transit and rail systems construction and maintenance across the United States and Canada. The organization installs overhead contact systems (OCS), traction power substations (TPSS), signaling and train control systems, communications, and control centers. Teams self-perform many disciplines, providing technical depth, scheduling efficiency, and opportunities for hands-on learning and career growth.


Location & Mobility

Work locations are project-dependent. Teams relocate based on available work and career development goals. Candidates must be willing to relocate initially and periodically throughout their career. Final job assignment will be determined closer to the start date.


What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Support field operations by interpreting drawings and specifications for craft and field crews.
  • Prepare work plans, work packages, and coordinate material and equipment logistics.
  • Assist with field inspections and support safety and quality assurance efforts.
  • Perform office-engineering tasks such as takeoffs, preparing submittals, and supporting change-order pricing.
  • Supervise or coordinate subcontractor activities and provide field support when required.
  • Support project controls, purchasing, scheduling, and material management functions.
  • Assist project management with expediting material, estimating and processing change orders, and preparing monthly billings and progress estimates.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead project meetings and status updates.
  • May act as a discipline engineer or lead on small projects and may share superintendent responsibilities for small crews.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of construction experience; experience with infrastructure/heavy civil preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and relocate as project needs require.
  • Strong work ethic; able to work more than 40 hours/week and during non-standard hours (nights/weekends) as project demands.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to access all points of a construction site in varying climates and conditions.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and accountable with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship.
