What You’ll Do

This entry-level Field Engineer I role is the bridge between office design teams and on-site construction. You’ll support MEP coordination, material and submittal management, and the execution of designs to schedule and budget. You’ll attend BIM coordination meetings, prepare weekly reports, and help resolve field technical issues so projects move smoothly from plan to install.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently coordinate mechanical and structural systems to keep vendors and trades on schedule
  • Review and resolve field construction issues, discrepancies, and clashes with A/E, owner, or contractors
  • Participate in BIM meetings and develop necessary design adjustments using AutoCAD/Revit and other tools
  • Produce weekly project reports and assist with budget oversight and progress tracking
  • Establish exterior/interior control points, working lines, and under-slab/layout locations
  • Create isometrics, detail views, and “As‑Built” documentation for field crews
  • Perform heat gain/loss calculations and size/verify mechanical equipment and plumbing systems (DWV, water zones, PRV, gas)
  • Review truss, panel, and shop drawings for design conflicts and drive resolution
  • Manage submittals, change orders, material expedites, and equipment schedules
  • Coordinate with internal operations, field staff, vendors, and customers to ensure timely project completion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering (ME/MET), or Construction Engineering — OR 5+ years construction experience with strong MEP aptitude
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (if degree-based)
  • Familiarity with construction methods and reading construction documents
  • Basic BIM experience (AutoCAD, Revit) and comfort participating in coordination meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and drive them to completion
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; MS Project is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able and willing to learn in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Basic math skills; capable of lifting ~50 lbs occasionally and performing field measurements

Schedule & Location

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (daytime)
  • Location: On-site / In-office (New Augusta, IN)
  • Limited travel may be required
