About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring a Field Engineer to support federal construction projects based out of Hanover, MD. This is a full-time, contract role focused on field operations, coordination between trades, progress tracking, quality control, and safety on complex government and institutional construction work across the Greater Baltimore / DC-Metro region.

Wage/Salary Range: $75,000 — $85,000 per year (provided by client)
Key Responsibilities
Support field leadership and project teams to ensure safe, high-quality, on-time delivery of assigned scope:
- Assist the Superintendent with daily work planning, subcontractor coordination, and communicating site expectations
- Review work areas with subcontractor foremen to confirm access, readiness, prerequisites, materials and equipment
- Coordinate multiple trades, identify work conflicts, and escalate constraints before they impact progress
- Support site logistics: delivery routes, staging/laydown areas, temporary facilities, housekeeping and protection of completed work
- Assist with mobilization, personnel vetting, delivery coordination, and site orientation
- Participate in daily coordination meetings and progressively lead assigned discussions
- Develop and update short-term look-ahead schedules, track production, installed quantities, manpower and equipment
- Provide field progress information and photographs to support schedule updates and reporting
- Read and apply drawings, specifications, approved submittals and contract requirements; report discrepancies and assist with RFIs
- Maintain daily reports, progress photos, delivery records, field sketches and as-built markups
- Support quality control, inspections, testing coordination, punch lists, equipment startup coordination and turnover documentation
- Promote and support project safety requirements, participate in toolbox talks and perform safety observations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering or construction/management-adjacent fields) — minimum education preference noted
- Entry-level to 1–2 years related full-time experience preferred (internship experience considered)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to reliably travel to project sites and the Hanover, MD office
- U.S. Citizenship or the ability to obtain and maintain required federal access for work on secure government installations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar PDF markup/editing tools
- Strong communication skills; ability to work professionally with subcontractors, suppliers, government representatives and project teams
- Able to lift approximately 40 lbs and spend extended periods walking and working on active construction sites
Preferred / Helpful Experience
- USACE QCM Certification
- OSHA safety training
- Prior security clearance or ability to obtain clearance for government projects
- Familiarity with government project systems: RMS, WebCM, Kahua, etc.
- Experience in federal construction, occupied renovations, or mission-critical infrastructure projects
Work Environment & Schedule
- Typical hours Monday–Friday; start times vary by project (roughly 6:00am–8:00am), end times typically 3:30pm–5:30pm
- Project work is field-heavy and may require vetted access to federal or military installations; employment is contingent on background checks, drug screening and any required access approvals
- Work locations vary by project; operations are based out of the Hanover, MD office with project sites throughout the Greater Baltimore to DC-Metro regions
