About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Field Engineer based in James Island, SC. This is a full-time, in-office role (not remote or hybrid). Candidates must be located in the Charleston / James Island area or be willing to relocate at their own expense prior to starting.
This is an excellent early-career opportunity for a technically curious, resourceful, and customer-focused engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new technologies (radar, computer vision, edge computing), and supporting customers in the field. You will configure and commission systems, diagnose hardware/software/network issues, support deployments and demos, and contribute to product testing and documentation.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers using Confidential Client products and systems.
- Configure and commission systems for new customer deployments.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, connectivity, and configuration issues.
- Work directly with customers to understand technical issues, gather information, and drive problems to resolution.
- Support field deployments, system testing, demonstrations, and customer evaluations.
- Analyze system data, logs, and video to identify root causes and improve performance.
- Escalate issues to engineering, share customer feedback, and help identify product improvements.
- Test software, firmware, features, and configurations prior to deployment.
- Create technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and customer-facing resources.
- Use scripting and software tools (including AI-assisted tools) to automate repetitive tasks and analyze data.
- Assist with programming and software development projects as skills grow.
- Develop working knowledge of radar, computer vision, edge computing, networking, and cloud technologies.
- Jump into other technical or operational projects in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, or similar — or equivalent demonstrated technical experience.
- 0–3 years of professional experience (entry-level).
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with computers, networks, software, and electronic systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Professional, patient, and customer-oriented approach.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to take ownership of problems and follow them to resolution.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically to customer sites across the United States.
- Ability to work full-time from our James Island, SC area office.
Helpful Experience (Not Required)
- Programming or scripting (any language).
- Linux and command-line tools.
- IP networking, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, LTE/cellular communications, or IoT devices.
- APIs, databases, or cloud-based applications.
- Computer vision, image processing, radar, or other sensing technologies.
- Embedded systems or electronics.
- Data analysis and visualization.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools.
- Prior technical support, field engineering, or customer-facing technical roles.
- Experience or interest in intelligent transportation systems and transportation technology.

- Within the first months, you’ll develop a solid understanding of the product suite and become comfortable configuring systems and resolving common customer issues.
