What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Field Engineer to support transportation, transit and light-rail construction projects. This is a hands-on role that combines field operations and office engineering to keep projects on-schedule, on-budget, and safe.
- Support field crews by interpreting drawings and specifications, preparing work plans and work packages, and coordinating equipment and materials.
- Order and schedule material deliveries and assist in field inspections to promote safety and quality.
- Perform office engineering tasks: takeoffs, assist with change order pricing, prepare submittals and project documentation.
- Track field and office performance metrics and support subcontractor coordination.
- Support project controls, purchasing, scheduling and engineering interface functions.
- Assist project management with expediting materials, estimating change orders, and preparing monthly billings and progress reports.
- Participate in and sometimes lead project meetings focused on status updates and deliverables.
- May act as a discipline engineer or lead on small projects and share superintendent responsibilities for small operations/crews.
Who You Are
You are an early-career construction/engineering professional ready to work on transportation infrastructure and relocate as projects require.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, or a closely related field.
- 0–3 years construction experience preferred, especially infrastructure/heavy civil or transit projects.
- Willingness and ability to travel and relocate initially and throughout your career.
- Strong work ethic — able to work more than 40 hours/week and during non-standard hours (nights/weekends) when needed.
- Leadership potential and ability to work with field crews, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Able to access all points of a construction site in a variety of conditions and climates.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines independently and in teams.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation: $79,000/yr - $87,000/yr (actual compensation may vary by experience, skills, and location).

Location & Logistics
- Job location: Baltimore, MD with assignments across North America. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date.
- This role requires flexibility to relocate to where the work is and to travel as needed.
- This position supports transportation, transit and data-center construction projects (overhead contact systems, traction power, signaling, communications, and control centers).

- Ability to work safely and follow written and oral instructions, site warnings, and equipment use policies.
- May work at various locations and conditions; overtime and weekend work may be required.
