What You’ll Do
The confidential client is hiring a Field Engineer to support Construction Engineering Management (CEM) projects on UDOT transportation work in Southern Utah (Regions 3 & 4). This role offers hands-on field experience overseeing highway and infrastructure construction.
- Assist with construction oversight on UDOT transportation projects
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Review RFIs, change orders, pay estimates, and project documentation
- Participate in field inspections, data collection, and construction verification
- Support quality assurance and materials documentation
- Maintain accurate project records and prepare reports/technical documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams and UDOT representatives
- Uphold the confidential client’s quality and risk management standards
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and governmental safety requirements
What You’ll Need to Qualify
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and actively working toward a Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards
- UDOT CEMT certification or ability to obtain within 3 months (company support available)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and driving record review
- Willingness and ability to travel locally to job sites and work remotely as needed (may include occasional overnight stays, nights, or weekends)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and PDF software
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work safely on active construction sites (uneven terrain, varied weather, moderate-to-high noise)
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
What Will Help You Stand Out
- Prior experience as a UDOT Field Engineer
- 2+ years of highway or DOT construction experience
- Knowledge of UDOT standards, specifications, and construction processes
- Contract administration experience (RFIs, change orders, pay estimates, claims documentation)
- Experience with Bluebeam and/or Masterworks
- Materials testing and quality assurance experience
- Experience working in UDOT Regions 3 and/or 4
- Strong contractor oversight and stakeholder communication skills
Work Arrangement, Location & Salary
- Employment type: Full-time (Telecommute/hybrid with regular travel to job sites)
- Authoritative work location: Annabella, UT (work will include Southern Utah project sites)
- Estimated pay: $125,107 per year (estimated)
- Note: Must be able to travel to job sites in the region and work remotely as required
