Field Engineer 1 - Northwest (Heavy Civil)

Responsibilities
This role supports heavy civil construction projects across the U.S. West Coast. You will work in the field and office to support project delivery, estimating, and site supervision. Primary responsibilities include:
- Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percent complete for installed materials and work
- Assist in preparation of work plans and work packages
- Support field surveying and layout (elevation, control points) and compile as-built data
- Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets
- Assist in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety training
- Order and schedule material deliveries and coordinate logistical needs
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite and supervise field operations as needed
- Produce material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations, and technical drafting to support field operations
- Prepare data, submittals, and transmittals for customers, vendors, subcontractors, and governmental agencies
- Participate in purchase order and subcontract preparation, minor solicitation/purchasing, and schedule maintenance updates
- Maintain project recordkeeping: daily reports, photos, RFIs, correspondence, job cost entries, and support change order documentation
- Assist the estimating team with historical data analysis, plan/spec review, quantity takeoffs, and risk assessment for bids
Qualifications
- Willing and able to work in the Heavy Civil Construction industry
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related engineering field (civil, mechanical, construction management, mining, geotechnical) preferred
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
- Willingness to travel and relocate to project locations (including remote, small towns, large cities across the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii) as business requires
- Ability to access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environments
- Strong motivation, initiative, and a proven work ethic — willing to work rotating schedules, shifts, and weekends when required
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and on teams
- Good time management and attention to detail
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Previous internship or construction experience preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation: $79,000/yr - $87,000/yr (range provided by client)

- Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skill set, and work location.
