About the Role
Confidential Client, a leader in Energy, Oil & Gas heavy‑civil construction, is hiring an entry‑level Field Engineer (Field Engineer 1) to support transportation, earthmoving, water resources, and underground utilities projects across the West Coast. This role blends hands‑on field engineering, office engineering support, and estimating — a strong opportunity for early‑career engineers who want broad exposure and career growth.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
- Perform quantity calculations and material takeoffs; determine percent complete for installed materials.
- Support field surveying and layout (elevation, control points) and compile as‑built data.
- Assist in preparing work plans, work packages, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and daily reports.
- Compile and confirm daily labor timesheets; enter data into job cost systems and assist in cost reviews.
- Help schedule and order materials; coordinate deliveries and on‑site work groups.
- Support and supervise field operations and subcontractor activities as directed.
- Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox talks, mass safety meetings, and safety training.
- Perform basic engineering calculations, technical drafting, and prepare data for submittals and transmittals.
- Assist in estimating tasks: historical data review, plan/spec review, quantity takeoffs, and risk identification.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related engineering field (e.g., civil, mechanical, construction management, mining, geotechnical).
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer‑sponsored immigration support.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environments.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as business requires (projects across the West Coast, including Alaska and Hawaii).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and a demonstrated commitment to safety, ethics, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Previous internship experience preferred.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work overtime or weekends as required by project schedules.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation: $79,000/yr - $87,000/yr (actual pay may vary based on experience, education, skillset, and location).
