The Field/Base Communications Network Technician supports the Navy's largest IT services program by maintaining and troubleshooting the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet's core network infrastructure. What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Field/Base Communications Network Technician to support enterprise network operations and field activities. In this hands-on role you will support LAN/WAN/BAN operations, perform maintenance and troubleshooting, and help maintain network security and configuration baselines.
- Work as an operations-focused network technician supporting BAN/LAN/WAN network operations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and cutovers.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of faulty hardware using SOPs, TTPs, vendor guidance, and documented processes.
- Interface with field leads and the Network Operations Center (NOC) to support incident troubleshooting and service restoration.
- Support network configuration and asset management activities; identify and remediate configuration drift and keep accurate as-built documentation.
- Implement and validate cybersecurity controls (STIG compliance) and support security-related tasks.
- Provide COMSEC Alternate Local Element support: maintain COMSEC hardware/software, manage key inventories, load keys to encryption devices, and follow prescribed COMSEC procedures.
- Coordinate planned maintenance and network upgrade activities with program and customer stakeholders.
- Complete required training and recertifications to maintain baseline qualifications.
- Support assigned Government Directed Actions (GDA) and report completion to the Field Base Network Lead.
- Travel locally or overnight by car/air to assigned locations for break/fix, COMSEC support, or other mission activities (up to ~25%).
Who You Are / Required Qualifications
To be considered you must meet these minimum qualifications:
- DOD Secret security clearance with the ability to upgrade to and maintain Top Secret.
- Minimum DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification prior to onboarding (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CDN, ISC2 SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, or CYSA+).
- Network vendor entry-level or higher certification (e.g., Cisco CCST, Cisco CCT).
- 1+ years troubleshooting routing and switching issues; 1+ years configuring switches, routers, network appliances, and WAN acceleration devices.
- Entry-level knowledge of configuring and maintaining network devices (switches, routers, wireless APs, firewalls).
- Familiarity with network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, routing protocols).
- Ability to be scheduled or called in during off hours/weekends to meet mission requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive corporate vehicles for local travel; willingness to travel up to 25% (possible OCONUS).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
- Associate degree in a relevant field preferred; equivalent experience may be accepted (see job details).
Nice-to-Have (Preferred) Qualifications
- Top Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT Management, Engineering, or related field.
- MPLS, SDN/SD-WAN, or WAN acceleration experience.
- DevOps / CI-CD, scripting (Python), or automation (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) experience.
- Associate/Professional vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
- ITIL certification.
Physical & Operational Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for distances up to 100 ft; lift 25 lbs vertically using ladders.
- Work in confined spaces (raised floors, comms closets) and noisy environments (data centers, operations centers); able to stand or sit for up to 8 hours.
- Use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches) and rack mount equipment.
- Normal color vision required for cable identification; correctable vision to 20/20 and depth perception required.
- Use and read digital test equipment (e.g., OTDR).
- Ability to operate a vehicle for work-related travel; valid state driver’s license required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year (range provided by the employer).
- Employment type: Full-time.

- Job location: Westworth Village, TX (on-site / field work required).
